The Marathon de Paris attracts runners from all around the world, as one of the most prestigious marathons. Join the mythic event, with the best runners of the world as well as anonymous. Imagine that fresh Sunday morning, at the Arc de Triomphe, with thousands of athletes. The mist in front of the mouths, the rumour of the crowd, spectators all along the streets, loudspeakers announcing the departure, the energy growing and electrifying participants. And suddenly, bang! The flow of runners sallies out for an incredible race.
The first strides cover the mythic Champs-Élysées. Then, the journey pushes you towards the greatest places and monuments, such as the Palais Garnier, the Louvre, the Bastille place. After this first urban run, you enter the huge Vincennes woods, for a moment of greenery, passing by the Château de Vincennes, before you come back to the streets. You are halfway through the marathon.
The second part of the race leads you towards the cathedral Notre-Dame, a shrine just restored, the Orsay museum, the Grand Palais. There, you enter the most difficult moment of a marathon, the 30th kilometre. Your body is painful, your feet are sore, your legs have difficulties to carry you. The tunnels on the right bank will weigh down your legs.
Look up, your next step is the stunning Eiffel Tower, and it will help you forget all your aches. Focus on the Iron Lady, she supports you. Then, you discover the Auteuil racecourse, the Boulogne woods. At this moment you think you are about to finish. But the run in the woods is endless. Fortunately music bands and spectators will cheer you up, before you go back to the Arc de Triomphe, where the run finishes. Congratulations, you are a hero, you ran 42,195 km! You will never lose these feelings of Paris street, people and beautiful monuments. You are now a Parisian.
